The topics of Professional Slipcover Fabrication I & II are combined tooffer a thorough, hands-on overview of the reverse-pin method for Fit-Like-A-Glove™ slipcovers. Students learn the art and skill while completing two beautiful slipcovers that are suitable for showroom display. Students use industrial walking-foot machines and industrial sergers to complete a form-fitting Parsons chair slipcover with a short pleated or gathered skirt and a wing chair or arm chair slipcover with a box cushion. Other topics include: supply resources, pricing, marketing, fabric selection, and yardage calculation. Students have the option of working with fabric and chairs provided by the school, or they can bring their own chairs and fabric. Parsons chair forms are available for purchase.

Introduction and school orientation
Industrial tools and equipment (walking foot machine and serger)
Fabric selection (Sunbrella™)
Welt preparation
Reverse-pin fit Parsons chair
Stitch/serge

Day 2 (8:30-5:00)
Box cushion patterning and construction
Cushion inserts

Day 3 (8:30-5:00)
Fabric selection and welt preparation for wing chair or arm chair project
Begin reverse-pin method

Day 4 (8:30-5:00)
Continue wing chair or arm chair project
Discuss the business practices (marketing, pricing and customer service)

Day 5 (8:30-3:00pm)
Finish wing chair and arm chair slipcover
