This comprehensive class is designed for the high energy student. The certification as a Slipcover Career Professional™ will be earned in four extended days. Professional Slipcovers 101 and 201 are combined to present this thorough course at an accelerated pace. Students will learn how to make Fit-Like-A-Glove™ slipcovers from start to finish using the reverse-pin method. Students will use a walking-foot sewing machine and industrial serger to complete a form fitting Parsons chair slipcover with a tailored or gathered skirt, a wing chair or arm chair slipcover, and welted boxed cushion. Other topics include: pricing, marketing, fabric selection, calculating yardage, cushion inserts, decorative skirts and zipper closures. Equipped with problem solving techniques, students will have the confidence to fabricate slipcovers for difficult furniture. Instructors share timesaving tips, creative ideas and supply resources. Students have the option of working with fabric and classroom chair samples provided by the school, or can bring their own chairs and fabrics, if they prefer. Parson chairs are available for purchase. As a prerequisite, the student must view “Fit-Like-A-Glove™ Slipcovers, a DVD presented by Jeanelle Dech. This DVD will be included in the registration package.
