Drapery Designs with Jackie Von Tobel

This two day class will teach you how to apply the basic design elements and principles to create cutting edge window treatments like those seen in Jackie’s book The Design Directory of Window Treatments.  Topics that will be discussed include proper fabric selection, accurate measuring techniques, creating professional work orders, and communicating with the workroom.  Several methods of presentation will be presented including Jackie’s “quick rendering” process and quick overview of Jackie’s designs in Minutes Matter Studio.  Students attending this class will come away with a renewed confidence in their ability to design successful treatments and a new set of skills to present those designs to their clients.

Day 1:

• Explore how the principals of design apply to today’s interiors
• Create a design checklist
• Case Studies: Design several treatments using basic principles.

Day 2:  

• Presentation Basics – Quick Rendering, MM Studio
• Work orders and communicating with the workroom
• Case Studies:  Design a treatment using basic principles, prepare a presentation rendering, and prepare a work order.
